Andreea Axenie, Managing Director – Teleperformance Romania
My name is Andreea Axenie, and I am the Managing Director of Teleperformance Romania. We are a 2000 employees’ subsidiary of the largest outsourcing company in the World. We are providing a full range of services, from customer support to sales and financial services or technical support.
How did you start your career? Which were your first steps? How did you envision your career?
While finalising University, I was supporting myself by working at the airport as a check-in agent. Little did I know that I would in fact develop a passion for customer experience. 😊
What were your key career moments?
I believe that accepting to participate in a massive company-wide transformation project, that forced me out of my customer experience comfort zone to profit and loss management and business data area was the turning point for me and my career.
The following one came as moved from a transversal role, into a country role with Teleperformance, which gave me a fabulous opportunity to be part of an incredible growth journey and to round up my previous experience of regional and global operations, with an end-to-end country overview.
What are the three most valuable career lessons you have learnt?
I believe that the most important lesson I’ve learnt is that in order to grow, you always have to take on responsibilities from your manager, offer to do more and push yourself.
The other golden lesson is that to succeed, you always have to think five steps ahead. Have the goal in mind and take only the actions that advance you towards your goal.
Lastly, I find it extremely valuable to always think of solutions. The mind has to be focused on solutions, and mentality must be centred around “how to” as opposed to “why not”.
Why did you choose Business Services Industry? What were the top 3 reasons for choosing your company?
I strongly believe that in an era of fast-paced transformation and digital revolution, business services companies are at the forefront of that advancement, and I feel that it suits my skills and personal aspirations very well.
I chose Teleperformance because it’s an impressive company with more than 40 years of experience in my beloved customer experience area. The role was a unique opportunity for me to apply almost 20 years of Regional and Global experience to turning around and growing Romania.
Tell us a little bit about your private life: your passions, family. What do you do to relax?
I’m married, mother of one 18-year-old son, and a person with a very strong passion for travel. I love to see new places, new cities and meet people.
If now you were starting your career, knowing the present and near future opportunities, what would you do?
I would learn at least two European languages to perfection. 😊

I would focus on defining what I like and identifying my strengths and opportunities. I would avoid making career changes that are not helping me grow as a person or as a professional.
