Michelin started its activities in Romania in 2001. Since then, the group invested over 400 million euros in the modernization of the plants, in the training of the employees and in project development. Michelin Romania employs now over 3800 people in 3 plants, one in Floresti (Prahova) and two in Zalau (Salaj), in commercial activities and a Shared Services Center in Bucharest. Starting 2018, Bucharest is headquarter to Central Europe Region, coordinating the commercial activities for 20 countries.
Michelin Shared Services Center in Bucharest was created in 2013 and its activities expanded very quickly. It now employs more than 500 people in five fields of activity: Finance, Purchases, Logistics, Personnel and Sales Administration.
As the company pursues its goal of leveraging on its business support functions to enhance customer satisfaction while increasing operational efficiencies, the challenges for the Bucharest unit are quite important with strategic stakes for Michelin.
The ambitions for the center are to become a world class multifunction center supporting Europe, Asia and Middle Est covering the five main processes of Michelin’s Corporate & Business Services.
