ABSL Gala 2024 Celebrates Innovation and Excellence in the Business Services Industry

The current socio-economic context is driving an increasing need for innovative solutions, enhanced performance, improved service quality, and greater customer satisfaction. Once again, the business services industry has demonstrated its adaptability and determination to remain one of Romania’s most significant economic sectors.

The Association of Business Service Leaders in Romania (ABSL) recognized the most innovative companies during the 9th edition of the ABSL Awards Gala. The event gathered nearly 300 attendees, with 106 projects from 32 companies competing for awards.

This year, ABSL introduced two special awards dedicated to those companies that actively contribute to the growth of the business services industry.

The first category, “Most Active ABSL Member,” honors companies that have been deeply involved in projects, shared their expertise, proposed solutions, engaged with other members and potential investors, and participated in studies, thus fostering a strong business community. This year’s award winners are Genpact and HP Inc.

Additionally, an award was given to the most actively involved member in an education project. Career Day is an ABSL initiative focused on career counseling for high school students, guiding them toward informed decisions about their professional future. Accenture Romania has been recognized as the ABSL Ambassador for this project.

The “Business Leader in Business Excellence” category honors companies that have achieved outstanding results by increasing productivity and operational process quality. This year’s winner is Wipro Technologies, awarded for a project that addresses a key industry challenge — 68% Reduction In Overdue Amounts Following An End-to-End Order To Cash Transformation Journey.

The “Business Leaders in Business Innovation” category rewards creative solutions and their impact on customers. Two projects shared the first place in this category: Smart Assist, developed by Concentrix,  an AI-powered tool that enhances customer support operations and enhance customer experience. The second winning project, developed by Technology VOIS Romania, utilizes AI to analyze interactions, retrieve information, provide real-time guidance, and generate automated summaries, improving overall customer experience.

The “Business Leaders in Customer Experience” category recognizes the best solutions for improving services and customer relationships. This year’s winner, Hewlett Packard Enterprise/GEBOC Romania, developed a solution that reduced response time to partners by 86% in Romania.

Technology VOIS Romania aims to build a digitally inclusive world for everyone. Its Brighter Futures program supports this vision by improving study conditions and promoting digitalization in education for underprivileged communities in Romania. Employees serve as volunteers in this initiative, which won the “Business Leader in ESG” award at the ABSL Gala.

The Data Citizens program, developed by OMV Petrom, won first place in the “Business Leader in Talent Development & Education” category. This program enhances expertise in data science for financial department employees. Beyond internal skill development, program participants have achieved remarkable results in the global Women in Data Science competition, hosted by Stanford University. This year, OMV Petrom’s five teams ranked among Romania’s top 10, with one member securing 6th place globally.

An inspirational workspace, designed around employees’ needs and created together with them, contributed to BAT DBS Romania winning first place in the “Business Leader in Vibrant Work Environment” category. The workspace promotes sustainability goals, community engagement, work-life balance, and optimal performance conditions.

Beatrice Andreoiu (Booking Holdings) and Elena Dochie (MassMutual Romania) won in the “Colleague of the Year” category, which celebrates employees who stand out for their attitude and energy, volunteer work, resilience in professional challenges, mentorship, and strong personal values.
